Wow. The storms last night were something else. We had some beautiful lightning last night.
Here's a short video we took on our porch. I've always loved this poem about lightning from Elizabeth Bishop-"It Is Marvelous".
Obviously, the tragic storms in the south were not so wonderful. My thoughts are with everyone in Oklahoma and Arkansas that suffered through that huge line of tornadoes.
Have you guys seen "Fantastic Mr. Fox"? If not, get on that. I adore the original book by Roald Dahl, and Wes Anderson does it justice in this recent film version. I can't imagine a better pairing of author/director.
Meryl Streep can do no wrong, and she's extra brilliant as Mrs. Fox. My favorite clips are of her painting her dramatic, stormy landscapes.
In fact, I debated doing a small version of one of these for my friend Danny's housewarming gift. I got to see Danny and Heather's new digs this weekend-yay! I was going to plunk his new house in the middle of one of these stormy landscapes. Adam thought that wasn't a very nice gift. Sigh. No one understands me!
My girls got to visit with their one of their godmothers...Fairy Camille, and her daughters Harper and Waverly. (See Wave hiding in the back?) A good time was had by all.
