Grumble. My floor was almost perfect. All the checkerboard, just so. But then......this awful white haze on my black squares! I'm sure it's on the white squares, too, but you can't see it on the light color. At the recommendation of the Home Depot folks, we used flat interior paint for the checks, then sealed with Minwax clear Polycrylic.
I called Minwax, and they said the problem might be that the paint underneath might not have been completely cured. Even if it feels dry to the touch, it might not be totally dry yet. Soooo....now I sand all that off and start over. DARN IT!
Lightning hit a tree in the oak grove where we got married. Isn't the wood beautiful? The center section was hollow in a few feet of the trunk, and it reveals a gorgeous spiral pattern.
