Do you ever plan on one thing and then end up doing something entirely different?
I ran into town for some milk and to stop at the library, then ended up driving about 2 hours in the other direction. I didn't really even know why---I just wanted to escape my 'normal day'.
(In the interest of enjoying the holiday weekend, I'm making this quick, and not color-correcting any of my photos. I'm sure you understand.)
Miss OneDerful and I headed over to Canton, Texas. That's the place famous for their humongous Trade Days, but it was not occurring that weekend. I wanted to see the town without the thousands of people that descend on it for the Trade Days. It's a cute place. This giant sign made us pull over immediately.
This hamburger joint seemed so....hmmm....happy and colorful and sort of nostalgic. It took a really, really long time to get our drive-through order, but I think they made it from scratch. Normally, we eat really healthy foods, but we threw caution to the wind and had corn dogs and bunny burgers. (Tiny burgers, not burgers made from bunnies)
On the way home, we passed a magical peach orchard. Well, it wasn't really magical, but hey---it seemed pretty special. The cloud was full of all these puffy, happy clouds, and the peaches were like bright Christmas tree balls.
I'm not sure who these people are, but I wanted to take a photo of the homemade ice cream stand. They had fresh strawberry and peach ice cream for sale, along with orchard peaches. We tried the peach ice cream and it was delicious!
That night, we went fishing in our swamp. The full moon was a deep, dusky orange as it rose. It was the first time we've gone Full Moon Fishing. It was kind of eerie.....the beavers and snakes and owls were out. It's a bit startling to hear something slithering past your boat and not be able to see it.
It ended up being a really nice, relaxing day. Do you ever do that? Skip your 'to do list' and just take whichever path looks interesting? I'm glad I did.
