I forgot to mention that tonight after our dinner guest leaves, we will be going on a roadtrip to buy yet another boat.
Oh---and we brewed a whole batch of beer and bottled wine this morning. And also took a long walk and consulted with the Texas Christmas Tree Grower's Assocation (of which we are members) about irrigation stuff. AND I did lots of laundry. AND cleaned crayon off the couch. And the dog. And out of my daughter's teeth.
My hubbie has been home for a week and will be here for yet another. While I am THRILLED to have him home, I must admit that his frantic whirlwind pace is making me a tad exhausted.
I could use a 'glamour nap'. Or five.
We now have a little catamaran/sailboat thingie, so we had to spend a day freezing to death in a filthy brown lake enjoyed the opportunity to take it out for the first time. I've been sailing many times before, but I always forget how much scuttling to and fro is involved. And how many ropes.
We had the chance to see a bald eagle snatch a fish out of the water. At the risk of sounding overly patriotic and hokey, those birds are simply MAJESTIC!
in addition to sailing........
run 15 billion errands, which require many stores filled with greasy men
installed a drip irrigation system for the 475 baby pines we planted earlier this year
gone to Shenanigans.....a hideous Chuck E Cheese for adults where men can be boys I mean a lovely young-spirited bar filled with bowling and go carts and mechanical bulls and fried food
had multiple friends over for dinner
gone to ride our tandem bike at White Rock Lake in Dallas
attended a birthday party
witnessed a roller derby event
driven Miss One to my parents' place and back for safe keeping
gotten Miss One vaccinated for all those nasty baby ailments
enrolled her for preschool in the fall
started building the walls in my studio/ his shop----him, not me
mowed and macheted all the trails on our nearly 100 acres----him, not me
much running and weight lifting due to next weekend's Warrior Dash
and there's much more.....but I get tired just thinking about it.
Did I mention he's a Type A-ish sort of personality? He's just about the only person I've ever met who can make ME feel lazy. Which might be one of the many, many reasons why I married him. However, it also may be one of the reasons why I need a large glass of wine and perhaps an ice pack for my head and a fainting couch whenever he is home "on vacation".
One of these hoses had to be run past every single solitary baby tree.....that's 475 of them in case I haven't mentioned it before. Yes, I know I have. A hole had to be punched in the line near each tree and a drip emitter installed. Believe you me, that takes a Long Darn Time. With lots of squatting and kneeling and dirt and fire ants and snakes.
Did I mention the training for the bizarre marathon/American Gladiators/boot camp sort of thing? I hope I will not be expected to whip out a Viking outfit at the last minute.
(not my husband) Did I mention that wretched place called Shenanigan's? Fortunately, Adam didn't actually enjoy it much either---we had a gift certificate from someone. That was really nice of someone to give it to us, actually. I'm being a total ingrate to complain. Now I feel guilty. It just wasn't my kind of place. I'll try anything once, though.
All right......we're having more people over for dinner. I need to chop and dice and whatnot. What I could really use is a nap. How do YOU nice people deal with spouses/significant others being home on vacation?
