The weather is sweltering, and that makes me want to live in an imaginary Mermaid Cottage. Today I will decorate this only-in-my-head bit of surf and shore online. Splish splash!
I would start with this teeny, tiny pink cottage. I would change the big circular window by putting a huge bleached-out starfish in the middle. I'd keep the chairs and wicket fence, though.(image from Italian Girl in Georgia on Flickr)
There would, of course, have to be lots of THIS. Or I might as well just go home.
This fainting couch from Vermont Woods Studios would find a place of great importance. Doesn't it look like a giant conch shell?
All right, this is your standard Shabby Chic Seaside Cottage (ripped right from BHG), but I still like it. It's light, it's airy, it's cleanable, it's pure Summer.
If I had WeeMermaids, I'd let them sleep in this bed from Victorian Kids.
I'd lounge around all day in this pale pale pink gown by Angel Sancez. But without the anorexic bit. And I would definitely not let go of that parasol-I'm a huge parasol fan! Too bad mermaid-style gowns don't exactly flatter pregnant people. You'd look like a floppy, pregnant guppy.
...and I'd plunk a bathroom in here somewhere.
And this chandelier would be perfect. I'd add some shore birds, maybe some netting and shells.
Oh! Wait---I want this one instead. (from JPacific.com)
Wait-I changed my mind again. THIS ONE---from Scabetti. How FUN! I want it hanging over the bathtub. Also-if you made this into a big cone, wouldn't it be a great non-Christmas-y Christmas tree?
These candlesticks from Figaro would go on my dining table. Maybe I'd just use one of those mammoth clam shells.
Do any of YOU have imaginary houses? OK...I have to get back to real life now.
